OPRAH WINFREY’S dogs were barking Monday, and as a result a fan
walked away with an expensive pair of shoes. A source tells us that
while teaching one of her “Master” classes at Radio City Music Hall on
Monday night, the OWN Network namesake declared, “I can’t take it
anymore,” and peeled off the $800-plus
Christian Louboutin shoes
she was wearing. After scanning the audience, Winfrey handed the
pumped-up kicks to a random woman, then continued the class barefoot
until a stagehand delivered a more comfortable pair.
TOM HANKS was extremely loud and incredibly cool Tuesday. The
two-time Oscar winner surprised guests at the Revlon Concert for the
Rainforest Fund dinner when he crashed the live auction and exhorted the
deep-pockets crowd to bid up his item, “Tom Hanks Records Your Personal
Voicemail Greeting.”
“I’ll do whatever character you want,” he said to cheers. “I want
$31,000!” Hanks eventually lowered his expectations, but not before
warning New York’s 1% that “if I don’t get 25, I won’t put my spirit
into it. It’ll be a little perfunctory.”
The winning bid was $26,000.
Hanks’ contribution even topped former President Bill Clinton’s: a
private meet-and-greet that brought $18,000. Maybe that’s because the
ex-commander-in-chief was eager to talk to a long procession of fans for
free as Secret Service agents warily watched. In popularity, he
finished first.
