Russell Simmons on Rihanna Backlash: Get Off Her Jock

Russell Simmons has come to the defense of Rihanna after a couple of artists threw subliminal shots at her for her alleged promiscuity. Chris Brown released a speculative diss track against RiRi, which found him accusing one of exes of sleeping around. And Drake may have thrown the singer under the bus on ‘No Lie,’ his song with 2 Chainz.
In a blog post on his website Global Grind, Simmons took issue with artists who slam RiRi for having a, um, healthy sex life. He writes:
There have been a lot of artists recently talking about “good girl gone bad,” Rihanna. As far as I’m concerned, I don’t see why everyone has their panties up in a bunch. It’s just that she is out there allegedly f—in’ the rockstars of her dreams and you out there f—in’ groupies. You can’t be mad that she was seen walking out of Ashton Kutcher’s house late one night, cause you know if you were seen walking out of Adriana Lima’s house late one night, you would be in the studio the next day rapping about it. I mean, you all got like 50 girls in your videos drooling over you and you dissing Rihanna? I can’t blame a girl for being independent, having fun and living her life the way she wants to. I am certainly not condoning indiscriminate sex, but don’t get mad cause the girl…
Remember, I was a manager once and I have seen these types of young men on the road. I was with Run-DMC, the Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Public Enemy, Whoodini and saw all of the girls after the show line up outside the dressing rooms. I mean, Whoodini even wrote a song about, ‘I Am A Hoe’ and went on to rap, “I rock three different girls after every show.” So, I know how this s— works. You all got 10 times as many girls as Rihanna has men, and you know that. I love you guys, and this certainly ain’t a diss, but I gotta keep it real.”

Rihanna Shows Her Tribal Side on Streets of New York

Rihanna usually grabs headlines for what she isn’t wearing, but such was not the case when the Bajan beauty left her New York City hotel last night (May 14) en route to perform at the Robin Hood Foundation benefit gala.
RiRi emerged in a full face of stage makeup, looking every inch the primitive, tribal, warrior princess, complete with war paint.
While we’re not accustomed to seeing her in her stage garb before she is actually on the stage, she did her elaborate makeup, consisting of white eye shadow and gold lip paint, in her hotel room and donned her snake-like headdress beforehand. Ri did take time out of her mad dash to the perf by stopping to sign autographs for fans, something that baffles us, since we don’t know how the ‘Where Have You Been’ singer can do anything with those claw-like nails she’s been favoring.
When Ri finally hit the stage (in the video below), she was wearing a gold, leaf-like bra and lots of leopard print. It was enough to make those leopard print-favorting stylistas known as LMFAO jealous.
Our favorite piece of RiRi’s attire? Those Wonder Woman-meets-Cleopatra gold cuffs.

Rihanna Hooks Up With New York Knicks Star

Rihanna, JR Smith

Sounds like Rihanna has a new “rude boy” in her life. Rumors are spreading like wildfire that the ‘Where Have You Been’ singer has been getting hot and heavy with New York Knicks player JR Smith.
The Boombox reports that RiRi has been engaging in quite a bit of PDA with the Knicks’ bad boy. A spy told InTouch that the pair hung out at New York City’s Veranda nightclub and dished, “They were very flirty in the club all night and holding hands. She was sitting on his lap and was really into him.” Ow ow!
Smith is one of the most controversial players on the New York team and is frequently in trouble — which seems to be just Rihanna’s type, however unfortunate that may be. Smith, who has two kids, plead guilty to a reckless driving charge in 2009 (the same year Rihanna was dealt blows from her bad boy ex, Chris Brown), earning himself a month in jail, 500 days of community service and a seven-game suspension from the NBA. Further adding to his dangerous appeal? Smith was fined $25,000 for tweeting a photo of a thong-clad model in his bed — and later shut down his old Twitter account after rumors spread that he wrote in the same style as the Los Angeles-based Bloods gang. Sounds like a winner to us!
