And it seems the 40-year-old star is introducing her daughter Violet to some of the same skills fans witnessed in her hit TV show Alias.
Garner was seen taking her six-year-old to a karate lesson after school today, shortly after meeting friends for lunch in Brentwood.
Garner opted for tan heels and wore her hair in a pony tail, hiding her eyes behind dark shades in the California sunshine.
Violet, Garner's eldest daughter with husband Ben Affleck, arrived at the karate centre in her school uniform, later changing into white karate pants belted with a yellow-and-navy striped belt.
The mother of three, who is often seen out and about with her kids in jeans and T-shirts, had dressed up for lunch with friends, whom she was seen out with earlier in the day in Brentwood.
Jennifer was yesterday spotted out in her favoured attire - jeans and a dusty pink shirt - giving Seraphina a piggy back ride.
In an interview which came out this week in Details magazine, Jennifer's husband Ben admitted that his wife did the lion's share of the work when it came to their three children.
'If I have time, I try to spend time with the kids, even if just to be a physical presence, the bath, whatever,' Affleck said.
'But my mind's always going, ''How are we going to light that shot tomorrow?'''
In addition to Violet, Ben is also father to Seraphina, three, and six-month-old son Samuel.
But despite his preoccupation with his career, the Pearl Harbor favourite admits his attitude to work has changed fundamentally since becoming a husband and father.
But he joked it is not long before the pace of looking after his brood makes his change his mind.
He said: 'Now, you may go home and be with your kids and very quickly start thinking, "I wonder what's on the work front?"'
