I recently saw the pilot episode for J.J.
Abrams' forthcoming new Tv series Alcatraz. I went into the panel thrilled to
determine what this present was all about, and left a small thrilled and
baffled. I have arrived at in conclusion that it's difficult for Abrams to
produce another Lost, as the scope of the present was epic. Alcatraz feels
huge, but not Lost huge. So my initial recomendation to audiences is always
that Alcatraz is it is personal display.
The following is a review of the show:
When San francisco bay area Police
Department DET. REBECCA MADSEN (Sarah Jones, "Sons of Anarchy") is
owned by a grisly homicide situation, a fingerprint leads her with a stunning
suspect: JACK SYLVANE (guest star Jeffrey Pierce, "The Nine"), an
early Alcatraz inmate who died many years ago. Offered her genealogy and family
history - both her grandfather and surrogate uncle, RAY ARCHER (Robert Forster,
"Jackie Brown"), have been guards in the prison - Madsen's interest
is instantly piqued, and when the enigmatic, knows-
everything-but-tells-nothing federal government agent EMERSON HAUSER (Sam
Neill, "Jurassic Park") attempts to impede her investigation, she's
doggedly dedicated. Madsen turns to Alcatraz specialist and comic strip
enthusiast, DR. DIEGO "DOC" SOTO (Jorge Garcia, "Lost"), to
put together the inexplicable sequence of events. The twosome discovers that
Sylvane isn't only alive, but he's loose on the streets of Bay area, leaving
bodies in his wake. And strangely, he hasn't aged each day because he was in
Alcatraz, once the prison was ruled from the iron-fisted WARDEN EDWIN JAMES
(Jonny Coyne, "Undercovers") and the merciless Affiliate WARDEN E.B.
TILLER (Jason Butler Harner, "The Changeling"). Madsen and Soto
reluctantly team with Agent Hauser and the technician, LUCY BANERJEE (Parminder
Nagra, "ER"), to avoid Sylvane's vengeful killing spree.
In accordance with Executie Producer Liz Sarnoff,
"there's likely to be a poor guy they need to catch each week. We should
solution these questions, using flashbacks to see Alcatraz in its hey
day." This first episode offered as much mysteries as it does respond to
questions. I am hoping it is a show that will actually resolve itself inside a
specific variety of episodes.
It will be hard for me to see Garcia and
immediately not to ask myself what Hurley does in Alcatraz. I am certain that I
can get above any time several episodes and that i be able to see really his
character. So far, his character is apparently someone that like a geek, we can
easily relate to like a comic book enthusiast.
I'm not acquainted with Jones from Sons of
Anarchy, but am considering viewing her character expand in this display. She
has lots of layers to her character. She actually is a tough detective that is
great at her work, but continues to be residing in the cisco kid of her father
(Forster), a retired Alcatraz prison guard. From the pilot it appears like her
character may have some internal conflict to fiind her way and show herself to
her father.
Forster is a strong actor and I am
interested in seeing how his character expands on this series. His knowledge of
Alcatraz is going to be invaluable for solving the mystery that is kicked-off
inside the pilot. I think Sam Neill is flawlessly forged because the government
agent you never know a lot more than he lets on.
This is a reveal that will demand lots of
focus on really get into observing, I not really know I am offered personally
